About The Artist
Fish House Art & Design

By Jay D. House

Hello, I would like to thank you for stopping by and looking at my work!
You will see many different fish; very few are real and the rest are abstract.
They colorful and somewhat comical, but all will surely brighten any wall space
or dark corridor.
I am from Winter Garden, Florida and have a twin sister; she’s the prettier one,
an older brother and sister. My father was an artist of a sort; He worked with oil,
watercolors, and made junk into art. I must have gotten my talents from him. Dad passed
away in 1996 and my beautiful mother is still alive and kickin’.
I first started drawing in the 6th grade and drew funny cars and dragsters,
snake people and other weird stuff. After entering the 7th grade I stopped drawing all
together which was about 38 years ago.
I moved to the area in the early ‘80’s and held many different jobs on Hilton Head Island.
And then I met a wonderful woman, got married, settled down and bought a house in Bluffton.
On September 13, 2004 I was in an automobile accident and was rear ended which had left me
with inoperable spine injuries. I have a pain management implant device which helps me cope with
daily pain.
After several months of feeling sorry for myself I became very depressed, bitter and
soon looking for something positive to do with my time.
In 2006, towards the end of January, I bought some pencils and a drawing pad. I really do
not know why I picked fish as my subject; it may be that I enjoyed fishing with my Dad and all
the colorful fish we caught.
I first started out by drawing my subjects with a No. 2 pencil, fine tuned it and then erase
most of the pencil marks, then when I am thoroughly satisfied I begin to color it in. I use “PrismaColor”
colored pencils on all my drawings.
My drawings will put smile on anyone who sees them!
I really appreciate your interest and “Thanks” again for stopping by!
Thank You,
Jay
